The SSP-200 is a 2nd generation sound spatialization audio processor, successor to the original SSP-100. Capable of generating a wide range of spatialization effects in 1, 2 and 3-dimensions, it features enhanced professional-level audio quality.
The SSP-200 performs the following functions:
Can be used with almost any arrangements of from 2 to 8 speakers in 1 to 3 dimensions, including 4.1 and 5.1 cinema surround-sound configurations.
Balanced +4dBu audio I/O: 2 x Inputs, 8 x Outputs and 8 x Parallel Inputs.
Professional-grade VCAs
Rack-mount format for effective studio integration.
Has 3 independent avenues for inputting spatialization patterns (an internal Sequencer, Joysticks or through the External Interface).
Creates, edits and records spatialization Programs.
Allows transportation of preprogrammed works to different performance formats, where they can be played back intact with the same spatialization results even on a different number and arrangement of speakers.
Interfaces with a wide range of external instruments including MIDI, synthesizers, tape recorders, foot pedals, digital delays, reverb units...
Can control an external digital delay for Doppler Frequency Shift simulation.
Can be used with an external Reverb unit for enhanced distance simulation.
The SSP-200 was awarded 1st prize as the “most innovative audio instrument of the year” at the «Lighting Dimensions International USITT 1991» trade show (Reno, USA).
The SSP-200 was originally designed in 1990. It was manufactured by Spatial Sound Inc. (California) and is no longer available.
