The TD-1 Transdriver is the original audio processor designed to perform Dynamic Sound Transduction™. It works at two levels:
When coupled to a matching relaxation chair embedded with sound transducers, it transforms music coming from any audio source into a vibration that can actually be physically felt when lying on the chair.
It goes a step further by distributing the sound vibrations across the surface of the chair in moving patterns or waves. This produces a pleasant kinesthetic sensation that can only be described as a sound massage.
The TD-1 performs the following functions:
It receives a signal from any audio source (CD, MP3...) and filters it so as to only keep its low frequencies. It then compresses it and limits it so that its level is always optimal for playback in the transducer chair
It distributes this processed signal over 8 outputs designed to be connected to 8 transducers in the chair, by smoothly varying their respective levels in a coordinated way. These variations are generated by a built-in microcomputer running a new amplitude modulation algorithm.
It integrates 8 high-fidelity audio power amplifiers to directly drive the chair transducers.
It contains a bank of 30 preprogrammed vibration patterns, and allows you to create up to 20 more of your own patterns.
It features an infrared remote controller, from which all playback operations can be performed while lying in the relaxation chair.
The TD-1 Transdriver was designed in 1994. Originally manufactured by Sensortech Inc., it is now superceded by a new digital-audio version, the TD-2 Transdriver, which is integrated into the new Sensortech TC-2 Transducer Chair.
