The CM-1 MIDI Colorizer is the first lighting controller designed to perform Light Modulation™, and allows a direct translation of musical notes (played through a MIDI keyboard) into a modulated colored light projection.
The CM-1 performs the following functions:
Implements a basic Light Modulation algorithm with one Low Frequency Oscillator (LFO) per channel for brightness modulation.
Combines 3 primary color projectors (Red, Green, Blue) for additive color synthesis.
Contains 8 output channels, each with its own built-in power dimmer circuit (500W/channel).
All lighting functions controlled by MIDI commands, with 5 Operation Modes allowing various music-to-light translation options.
Also available in a Slide Projector Controller version, made to be inserted between 3 standard Kodak slide projectors and a regular projector automation controller. This allows the special color effects of the CM-1 to be realized with slide pictures rather than with simple light projectors.
The CM-1 MIDI Colorizer was designed in 1989. It was originally manufactured by Sensortech Inc. and is no longer available.
